DHVSU Scholarship
On November 8, 2022 Pres. Gisela Concepcion, Grace Basilio-Soong, Regina Geraldez, Cynthia Cruz, Socorro Llamas, Felicidad Umandap visited Don Honorio Ventura State University in Bacolor Pampanga (aka "DHVSU").
We stopped at Everybody's Cafe, a 3rd generation restaurant in San Fernando, Pampanga where Gina Geraldez treated us to authentic Pampanga dishes: morcon, fried hito with burong hipon (fermented shrimp and rice), camaro (stir fried crickets), batute (stuffed frog's legs), sisig, halabos (steamed shrimp), fresh lumpia, fresh paco salad (fern), halo-halo and leche flan.
At DHVSU, we were met by Dolores "Dolly" T. Qiambao, Ed.D. (Vice President for Student Affairs and Services), Enrique G. Baking, Ed.D. (SUC President III), Reynaldo C. Nicdao, Ph.D. (Executive Vice President) and about 22 student members of Golden Z (Zonta sponsored club that offer their members the opportunity to work toward world fellowship through service and international understanding).
The university staff prepared a program which included testimonials from 3 scholars who benefited from our Club's donation: Justine Santos, Mary Ann Santos and Arenz F Bueno; Memorandum of Agreement signing, and distribution of scholarship money (P5,000) plus Christmas cheer (P1,000) in cash to each beneficiary.
31 students were picked by DHVSU faculty. They were chosen based on family circumstances (a child of a single parent who was recently diagnosed with cancer, Aetas, a student who is also a single parent, etc).
